November 2, 2009  CMS issued the final rule for the 2010 Physician Fee Schedule late Friday afternoon, October 30. The rule sets forth payment policies for physicians and non-MD health professionals. The rule announced a cut in the fee schedule of 21.2 percent, and set the conversion factor for 2010 at $28.4061. We expect these figures to change when Congress acts to supersede the proposed cut.

The final rule will appear in the November 25, 2009 Federal Register. The new payment rates and policies will take effect January 1, 2010.
