Recent NASL Support Letters

NASL, 12/21/2018

NASL has recently supported two important issues by signing on to two separate letters that were submitted to Congress.

First, NASL supported a letter that was submitted at the end of November by the Independence Through Enhancement of Medicare and Medicaid (ITEM) Coalition, of which NASL is an active member, to key contacts in the House and Senate.  The letter is in support of H.R. 3730, a bipartisan piece of legislation that would permanently exempt manual Complex Rehab Technology (CRT) wheelchair accessories and components from Medicare’s Competitive Bidding Program (CBP).  This is a priority issue that NASL has been very active on over the last year and a half.  A copy of the ITEM Coalition support letter can be accessed here.

Secondly, NASL also recently supported a multi-stakeholder sign-on letter that was submitted to Congress to permanently repeal the medical device tax.  More than 140 patient advocacy, disability, research, community, and health care industry organizations signed on to the letter that was sent to Capitol Hill earlier this month.  The letter calls on Congress to act before the end of the year to permanently repeal the device tax so that individuals with life-threatening conditions will continue to benefit from the promise of advanced medical technology to extend and improve lives.  A copy of this multi-stakeholder support letter can be accessed here.
